Abstract:
The present study was carried out to investigate haematological changes, serum biochemical constituents and intestinal pathological alterations associated with some causative agents producing diarrhoea and enteritis in Egyptian suckling buffalo-calves.EXPERIMENT I In this experiment, 138 suckling buffalo-calves of 3 days to 3months were examined. Twenty of them were apparently healthy and usedas control group, and the remainder 118 were clinically diarrhoeic.Faecal swabs, faecal samples, heparinized blood, and serumsamples were collected from all examined calves. Based on thebacteriological, parasitological, and virological examination of the faecalsamples and swabs, the examined calves were divided into 8 groupsaccording to the possible causative agent isolated. The heparinized blood samples were used for the determination of PCV%, Hb content, RBCs count, WBCs count, and its differential counts. The serum samples were used for estimation of total protein, albumin, globulins, gammaglobulins, AST, ALT, AP, Na, K, Cl, urea, creatinine, and glucose levels. The results of this experiment could be summarized asfollows:- The most prevalent microorganisms isolated from apparently healthy buffalo-calves were E. coli, Citrobacter, Klebsiella pneumonae,Salmonella, and Shigella. The most prevalent microorganisms isolated
