Abstract:
Listeria monocytogenes is considered to be one of microorganism that has both medical and veterinary importance due to its pathogencity for animals and man, it possible presence as a normal flora in water sources, soils, vegetables and in different animaland cervical discharges, nasaldischarges, semen, contaminated wounds. This study was planned as an attempt to explore the following points: Isolation and identification of these microorganism from different farmanimals, studying the biochemical activities and its ability to growaerobically at 30°C and to lyse R.B.Cs and studying the antibiotic susceptibility pattem of such microorganism to select the highly potent one used to eliminate such microorganism. To establish this goal, the following points were undertaken:A total of 373 samples were randomly collected from different dischargesof farm animals in Sharkia Govemorate (115) cattle, (88) buffaloes, (77)goats, (93) sheep, (81) milk samples and (60) fecal samples & (66)cervical and uterine discharges & (22) blood samples, (60) semen samples (23) conjunctival swabs & (26) nasal discharges culturing these samples onto oxoford media and tryptone soya agar and broth which acted as a selective and semiselective media for the
