Abstract:
Rabbits of various breeds and sexes ha~e been invest- igated from cysticercus Eisiformis infestation under the Egyptian environmental conditions. The incidence and the morphological identificationsof the experimentally collected cysts during its early and succeeding developmental and the mature mesentric stages have been critically discussed in details lrith their fate,in clean experimented dogs. Indeed, the incidence of mature cysts in rabbits reached a percentage of 95.03 duringthe period from spring 1974 to autumn 1975. The development of cysticercus pisiformi~ needed 50 - 56 days from the eggs up to a completely mature infective cyst. Concerning the adult tapeworm Taenia pisifqrmi~obtained trom experimentally infected dogs, it was worth tomention that the prepatent period dranged between 60 and 75(mean 68) days. from the morphological pOint of view, the length of tapeworm.Taenig Eisi£ormi~ Bloch (1780) was 60 - 120 ems. (mean 96.71) with a total number of segmentsranging from 137 to 155 (mean 145.21) of which 52 - 55 (mean 5Z.93) were immature segments, 50 - 60 (mean 54.81)mature ones while the gravid segments were)5 - 40 (mean 31.47).iach worm ha~ a more or less globular scolex being prov1d
