Abstract:
1- Investigations were carried out to detect the 1ncid~nco of pathogenic batcria in Cairo abattoir sewage.2- 1.00 drain swabs WGI’e collected froLl the differentsections of Cairo abattoir; Tripery and Guttery,slaughter halls of cattle, sheep, camel anfr,pig.3- 50 drain swabs were examined for the presence ofSalLlonellae and the other 50 swabs were examined forthe detection of other pathogenic nicrobes.4- For isolation of Saillonellae, i’t was found that” thesewer swab technique with em:•oi.«hoer.:t tled:l’l.El incubatedat elevated trempcr-at.ur-e , waa gr-eat-Ly useful in succe-ssful isolation.5- 20% fron all the 50 drain SWoDS cxanf.nod proved tocontain Salnonelle.6- The incidence of Salr:lOneJla organisns v.as; 6~ in theTripery & Guttery section and 20% in both slaughterhalls of cattle and pig •7- Attenpts to isolate Salnonella organises fro~ cameland. sheep slaughter halls, wCJ:e unsuccessfull.
