Abstract:
Faecal samples of 131 apparantly healthy sheep were examined for elostridia . out of the total samples, 45(34.4%) proved to be storileThe clostridial flora of the normal faecal samples included: CL.welchii typc ”A” (96.6%), CL. welchii type ”C” (1.1%) and CL.chauvoci (2.3%).The samples were classified according to the difforent breeds. The incidcnec of clostridia in oseemy and merino sheep were 21.4% and 44.1% respectively.Sheep at the age of about one year showed higher frequeney of clostridia (28.2%), while those between 6-8 months showed an incidonee of 25.3%, and those of five years age or more showed a lower incidence 12.1%.
