Abstract:
Bovine viral Diarrhea-l’-lucosal Disease (BVD-lvlD) virus wc.S isolated for the first time in therArab.E.fiIDublicof Egypt from sick and dead calves at Tahrir provinceand sakna Farms.. C al ves were suffer ing from prieuuo en- teritis. Pneu~oenteritis problem causes serious losses annually in new-boFn calves. The history of Tahrir Erovince revealed that 70 ~ of calves suffered frow~neullioenteritis, and these studies revealed that 65.9 of serum samples examined contained neutralizing anti-bodies to BVD-I{D virus. Characterization of the isolate~ virus strains of BVD-~ill wa~ carried out by applying ha€mudsorption andhaEmagglutination test, chloroform an~ ether sensitivity tests and serum neutralization test using referenceantisera for BVD-~ID and other viruses. All the isolated strains were confirmed to be BVD-MD virus. Completeidentification was performed for one of the isolates that was isolated from calf No. 7912 from Iman villageat Tahrir Province and was designated as ”7912 lman”.
