Abstract:
The right and left adrenals of 33 nonpregnant and 64 .pregnant buffaloes are used in the course of this study. The specimens were chozen to represent tho different phases of estrous cycle and various stages of pregnancyThe morphological and histochemical studies revealed the following:HISTOLOGIC.AL FINDINGS:1- The capsule of the adrenal gland is divided into two layers: outer fibrous and inner-cellular. The inner layer plays a role in the formation of newcortical cells which are added to the zo na glomerulosa by apposition.2- The cortical. cells a.re arranged in oontinuous coz dsextie ndd.ng from the capsule to the medulla. The cor dsare regular and parallel in the zona glomerulosa,whilo they ’become irregular and anastomosing wi trh each otber t017ard the zo na reticularis. Thin and thick connectiVG tissuetrabeculae extend between thecell cc.nds , Some of the thick trabeculae containing small muscular arteries and bundles of myelinated
