Abstract:
1.The oral LD50 was deter~ined in Baladi rabbits bySperman-Karber method (1930) and was 124.2 mg/kg./body weight with 95% Fiducial Limits of 127.1 mg/kg.and 121.3 mg/kg.2. Toxicological studies have been made on the effectof VCS-506- on rabbits as experimental animals.•a. The following enzymatic and biochemical determinat-ions was carried out. Serum acetylecholine esterase, alkaline pho phatase, Glutamic oxaloacetic transam-inase, Glutamic pyruvic transaminase, inorganicphosphorus as well as blood sugar level. The mode of action h3ve been found to be inhibitionof enzyme cholinesterase which shows lowering duringthe period of experiment (72 hours). There were nosignificant difference in either blood sugar, alkalinephosphatase or inorganic phosphorus.b. The symptoms, postmortem lesions and histopathologicalchanges have been recorded. The symptoms producedare both muscarine and nicotine like effects besidesof affection of central nervous system. The mostprominant post mortem findings were affection of thelungs histopathologically, the lungs and cerebellumwere the most important organs in which lesions were
