Abstract:
reoroductive stctuses were Glso examined for mycoplasmaflora. Voginal sc.mples collected from four age groups of npparently normal Friesian-cross breed cattle were cultured for mycoplasmas on vc:.rious media. The recovery rc:.te variedwith ages, where it was higher in both the oldest (12-24 months) c:.nd the youngest (1-7 days) c:.ge groups than in the other two intermediate age groups averaging from more thanc:. week up to six months.Comparable dc:.ta had been obtained from studies onhunan ge:nitc:.l myc op Luamc.s , Infants were reported to becomecolonized. with genital myc p Laame s during birth C’ilcCorm::.ck~! £~., 1973). Presumably, the organisms o.re acquired in thebirth cc.nnl~ for infe.nts born by cesareo.n section have fewermycoplc:.sillas than those delivered vaginally (Klein, Bucklo.ndc:.nd Finland, 1969). About.l/3 of infc:.nt girls show vaginc:.lcolonization with T-mycoplc:.smas, and c:. smaller percentagec~re colonized with M. hom:!.n=!:.~ (Klein et al., 1969; Bro.un etc L, , 1971; Foy et 0.1., 1970).
