Studies On Coccidian Parasites Of Goats

Goats ( Capra - hircus ) were investigated for Eimeria SPe , Sarcocystis sp. and Globidium parasiteinfection (A) Eimeria sp.I - Total oocyst count of Eimeria sp. infecting goats ( 151 young and 92 adult ) were studied, duringthe period from I st July 1982 till last June 1983 ” The mean monthly oocyst output of Eimeria ranGed between 980 - 29604.7 oocyst / g faeces •2 - rn- the present study , the mean monthly oocyst output of young goats showed that two peaks werenoticed during December ( 1!9 604.7 OPG ) and Febr- uary (28835.7 OPG) •ConcerninG adult goats, three peaks were recorded during September - October ( 4220 - 3926 OPG) ,during December (5500 OPG) and during April (3480 OPG) • 3 - The relation between faecal consistency and totaloocyst counts was determined ”it was found in both young and adult goats, higher,oocyst counts werealways associated with diarrhoea • The semisolid samples showed a madium oocyst counts • The lowest one was that in case of solid faecal samples •
