Abstract:
The literature on oxytocin on male reproduc.- tion is rather conflicted and confused. The aim of the present study was to study some physiolog-ical functions uE oxytocin on male reproduction.For this purpose five healthy lactating pri-miparous rats at the third day of lactation with ~ or more young, were used for biological assay method, milk ejection response, to determine theI level of oxytocin in the sera.Eighty immature male rats of 21 days old and 146 mature rats of an average body weight of 240 g were used.The immature male rats were divided into two main sets. The first set was composed of 20 rats.Ten rats were daily injected intraperitoneally with 1.0 I.U. oxytocin for 21 days. Respec~ive control of 10 rats were injected with saline. The testes, epididymidis, seminal vesic les and prostates ofcontrol and oxytocin treated animals were obtained individually. ’l1he second set of experiment included 60
