Abstract:
The annual reports of Behera Veterinary Department revealed that livers condeed due to fascioljasjs in food animals were 4125 (1L16%); 5303 (10.9%); 4519 (9.4%); 4504(8.3%); 4984 (8.4%); 3954 (6.9%); 2271 (4.1%) arid 3225 (5.6%), at 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982, respectively.Economically, the annual average total losses of livers condemnation of infested bovine, buffaloes, and sheep from 1975 to 1982 were estimated to be LB 70721.4.High livers condemnation occurred at ad ult cows, buffaloes and sheep than that at younger ages was attributed to less chances of picking up liver flukes.Incidence of liver fluke infestation in different food animals from 1975 — 1982 were respictevely as follows:— In bovine was 13.47%, 16.7%, 13.6%, 11.8%, 10.7%, 7.7%,3.36%, and 7.01%. In buffaloes was 17.6%, 23.4%, 11.4%, 3.7%,9.3%, 12.2%, 8.7% and 5.86%. In sheep was 10.5%, 14%, 15%,15.5%, 15%, 15%, 10% and 11.6%. In camel was 0.16%, 1%, 0.03%,0.0%, 0.07%, 0.1%, 0.09% and 0.001%.
