Abstract:
’The origin, course, and distribution of the mixed and tor cranial nerves of the one humped camel were reviewed’mpared with other domesticated animals with special ferences to the ruminant animals and discussed with otherthors. Detailed dissection for both sides on three ategories. ’I’h e first was twenty-five heads together with thehole neck of adult four to five years old male dromedary else The second was three adult whole male dromedary camels~ee to five years old. The third was ten features for the reliminary investigation. The assistance of the magnifying lens was performed for the examination of the fine superficialranches of the seventh cranial nerve, using freshly heads treated removal of the skin by 10% glacial acetic acid for 24 hours. The cranial nerves of the dromedary camel presented thecharacteristics: The oculomotor nerve divided into dorsal and ventral branches. The dorsal branch innervated the dorsal rectus and levatorpalpebrae superioris muscles. The ventral branch innervatedthe ventral rectus, medial rectus and ventral oblique muscles. It gave a short strong communicating branch to the ciliary ganglion. The trochlear nerve of the camel coursed upward, outwardand became embedded in the anterior free margin of the tentorium cerebelli. It pierced the periorbita and terminated
