A thesis on biochemical study of alloxan effect in ewes

The present work is devoted to study the meta-bolic disorders reflected on the blood and serum constituents in the experimerit~l alloxan diabeticewes. Effect of alloxan different doses was even studied. Seventy two samples from normal and 402 samplesfrom experimental alloxan diabetic ewes were analysed!Data obtained were statistically analysedA dose of 20 mg. alloxan /kg!B!Wt producedcertain mild, transient metabolic disorders within 2.5 to 33 days f:rom injectionHigher doses of alloxan up to 70 mg.lkg.B~Wt.showed the following metabolic disorders: 1- BLOOD GLUCOSE’:A triphasic alloxan diabetes was observed witha maximum value of 198.57 + 2.21 mg.% on the 3rd day •Seventy milligrams/kg!B~Wt. Given in two doses was moresever than if given in one dose.,
