Abstract:
Observations on dystocia in buffaloes in Mootamediagovernme::1tal farm (511 buffaloes) and Awlad iYlofid privatefarm (482 buffaloes) were studied. Also those cases metwith in about 100 villages in Menofia province were alsorecorded.The case history \nth regard to the date and conditionof last birth, time of appearance of signs of parturitionand interference or previous asa l s t anc e by the owner werenoted. Careful examination, including general healthcondi tion, outer examina tior) and special inner examinationof the geni taJ., organs were conduc ted.A total number of’ 224 cases of dystocia were studiedof these 205 were buffaloes and 19 were native CO’JIlS. Theincidence of the different causes of dystocia in theseanimals were as follows:1- Faulty presentation, pOSition, posture constitutes56.7% of the total causes of dystocia in buffaloes butonly 52.6% in cows.2- Uterine torsion was responsible for 30.6% inbuffaloes a1’ld 5.2% in native cows.
