Hematological and biochemical studies on theileria annulata infected calves

Abstract:
The smears made from capillary and jugular blood, blood picture values, the inorg~~ic and organic constit-uents of blood of 100 male native breed calves naturally infected with Theileria annulata were examined. In addi- tion, 20 normal cases served as control. The clinical examination of the 54 infected calvesrevealed no abnormalities. This was attributed to thestate of premunition which ischaracteristic of this disease in indigenous animals~ The temperature in 26 animals reached 39.5°C. Some of the infected animals showed slight digestive disturbances. Paleness of mucous membranes was pronounced in 4 cases. Allber of red blood corpuscles containing one detectable parasite and levels of paraSitaemia were classifiedaccordingly to !
