~Haematological, serologieal~d histopatholo-g.ical investigations were perr.fornied i.n guinea pigsinoculated With Bracella ~90rtus strain 544 in orderto achieve early laboratory diagnosis of brucellosis.Eighty guinea pigs were individually inoculated with100,000 brucella organisms. Xhere were 40 other ani-mals served as non infected control~, Infeeted guineapigs were classif’ied into 8 groups eaeh of ~O. ~Llthe first grOUP, blood and tissue samples were collec-ted one hour after infection. ,The other groups weresucc~ssive1yinvestigated 24 hours, 3 ’days, one week,2, ” 4 & 6 weeks post inoculation respectively.Blood L~vesti8ation revealed erythropenia at the~rd vueek af’ter ;’nfe ctd.on., Volume & mean corpuscularhamog~ ~l1ere ~lso ’increasea at the same time. fromthe 1st hour till the 3rd week af’t~ injection, allinfected guinea pigs ahowed leuko~~af lymphopeuiaand neutrophilia. By the 4th & 6th weeks the totalW.B.Cs” lymphocytes and neutrophile were returnedto normal.
