Abstract:
Laparotomy was perforBed in the standing positionin 35 donkeys from both right and left flanks. Thirtyone cases withstood the operation well, while four cases died.It was proved in this work that the best procedurefor sp.l.enec t cmy in donkeys ~as by resection of the lastleft rib. £The operation was facilitated by giving theoperated aninal a large aBOllilt of food prior to theoperation in order to push the spleen caudally nearer tothe seat of incision.Concerning the operation for enterotomy and entarectomyit was fOllild-that the left flank approach wasthebest. Excellent results wore obtained, when the intestineas well as the colon were sutured by one raw of modifiedPlakhoten suture using No 00 silk eyeless needle or Noo chrowic catgutIn t he present work it was proved that extirpationof both ovaries was possible by a left flank approach,while froD the right flank incision, it was only possible
