Abstract:
The experiments were carried out on both sexes oflbinn rats. TInts were o.cclimntized to laboratoryconditions one month before testinc.Or 1 anticongulnnt rodenticides warfarin, difenacoumnnd chlorophncinone ~ere studied. The oral LD50~s wereto be (64.97 , 1.319 1 nd 7.998 mg./Kc.B.wt.)(LCCOr(ij nr; to L1H’ In t ho d of Wei ,(195?). The chronicLD50 of these nnticol~ulnnt rodentjciden 0.8 , 0.10and 0.5 mc./Kc.B.~t./day x 5 d ys were eiven ornllyto rats. These doses were used throughout all thexperiments.Symptoms observed on rats thus treated wereexcitement, itching of nose, conjunctival echymosis, hnemntomas in vnriou::- pc>rt of the body, black softoffensive smelling stools and followed by dullenesnwi th general weakness. The severity of the symptomsdepend on the number of doses administered and thetype of the compound used, where chlor~phacinone wasstroncer t.hn n warfarin and difenacoum was strongest.H emntoloc;ical ex mination of warfarin, difenacoumand chloropho.cinone showed sever anaemia in whichR.B.Cs.count reached (4 • 3.6 and 3.8 cells x I06/mm3)respectively,(normal being 7.98 celis x 106/mm3),haemoglobin concentrntion became (7.8” 6.4 and 7.4gm %) respectively (normal b e i ng 15.2 gm %), and thePacked cell volumes were (23 , 16.7 and 22.7 %)respectively ,normal being (4G %). The coagulationp roc erie pn rruno t cr-s f nc r-ee ae d in t irne , so the bleedinc;times were (10.5 , 11 and 10.6 minutes) respectively,
