Abstract:
An inverting end-to-end int(;stinal anastomosic wefj perform- ed on 54 clinically hea2-th~T dogs at Assiut pr-o vLnc e 9 using t hr-e e different types of suture materials of the same oize n8lllely cat- gut, nylon and silko All operated dogs tollerated weBest results were obtained with the use of catgut. This wasmanifested mecroscopically by the absence of the stitches sincethe seventh day, 8S well as the presence of a very small sizedinver.ted flange or its co~plete absence 30 days postoperative.The mucosa regenerated completely y the stitches were comp Let e.l.yabsorbed and the inflammatory phenomenon Subsided 15 days follow-ing lhe ·operation.Geed healing haG also been obtained in those animals operat-ed by nylon.
