Abstract:
Lungs of 980 apparently healthy aheep of both sexes and different ages (ranged from 8 months to morethan 3 years) were examined after slaughtering at Assiut and Cairo abattoirs. 101 lungs are found to beaffected with various forms of pneumonia and other pulmonary affections with total incidence of about 10.3%.In the presen~ work, the criterion used to clasify the pulmonary affections was based on theIIlOxphohistopatholoeic.al. studie.s and bacteriologicalisolates. Such lesions were classified into: 1- E~tmative pneumonia (with medium incidence of 3.9%)which included suppurative pneumonia (2.9%) and sero-catarrhal or fibrino-n.ecroti.c pneumonia (1%).2- Interstitial pneumonia with incidence af 1.3% whichincluded focal interstitial pneumonia (e;ro.31·.l.:.0”.D.20.3%) and diffuse interstitial pneu~cnia (1%). 3- Pulmonary carcinoma with the lowest o’ ncidence o:f 0 •• 2%. 4- Pneumoconiosis with a highest incidence of 4.9%. Bacteriological examination showed that pasteur-elle spp. have a more universal localization in all forms of pneumonia. Staphylococci were isolated fromactute and chronic suppurative pneumonia .. Streptococcusspp. were confined to chronic suppurativ€ pne~onia
