Some studies on blood transfusion in buffalo calves & sheep

To accomplish this work a total (49) animals were exam- ined, 22 calves and 27 sheep neerly of iclenticial sex. They were used to study the effect of repeated transfusion of homolgous whole blood, whether it may be stored or not. The investigation Was alsThe haematological picture ”cytological study” of the blood samples involved blood pH, hae~oglobin deterillination,red blood cells count, white blood cells count a nd micro-haematocrit estimation.Serum WaS chemically analysed for total patients, Blood Urea N~trogen BUN, glucose, creatinine, bilirubin, sodium,potassiwn and chloride.Blood samples were collected every 24 hrs.post-trans- fusion from each recipient.Post-mortem examinations and histo-pathological studies of the parenchymatous organs of the dead animals exhibitedthe shock mymptoms of transfusion reactions were also cond- ucted with special attention to the haemopoietio organs.
