Abstract:
The problem of parasitic infection represents one of the major factors that affect domestic birds in almost allparts of the world • Parasitic helminths of birds may be acause of stunted growth, emaciation, weakness and death of laying hens. Production is markedly lowered or ever.ent;J..rly S”ColJped. as a mac c er of fact, parasites lowers their viability and result in an increase of their suscep- tibility to other diseases with subsequent rise in their mortality. The final outcome is a great financial lossunreover some helminthinfect man constituting a public health problem.It was the aim of the present work to reveal some asp- ects of this problem in Assiut Governorate and to contrib-ute to its better understanding. The programe of study ,included a survey of the helminth fauna and their incidenceand distribution in various host species. In addition some experimental studies were perforffied to reveal the effect of some external factors on developm- ental stages of one of the most common helminths parasit-ising domestic birds.As a resul”G of this work, certain points of interest were revealed.
