Abstract:
Asurvey on the frequency of hydatid disease in camels slaughtered in Zagazig abattoir. Sharkia govern- erate, Egypt, revealed an inoidence of 30.9% with slighvariatians during the different months of the year. Thepercentage of camels infested with fertile cysts was 23.5 and s1milarly w1th slight variations.The lungs of camel is the main organ which infectetwith hydaatid cysts, probably due to the increase of thewidth of the capillaries of the liver of camel thatthose of other animals.Morhpological and microscopical studies of hydatidcysts were carried out and revealed the size ofcyst was ranged between 20 and 85 c,c. The cysts consisted ot 2 layers surrounded with a layer of fibroustissue reaction, the hydatid cystic fluid measured4-5Adult Echinococcus granUtOsus worms of camel-dog material showed that the whole worm was 104-102-mm. mean 1.75 mm in length and had a scolex and 3 segments. The scolex carried 28-32 hocks meant 30.
