Abstract:
Hydronephrosis was produced experimentally in rabbits of both sexes by either partial or complete ureteral obstruction.Hydronephrosis developed faster with the comp Lete ureteral obstruction than with the partial in the form of progressive dilatation of the renalpe Lvi..e on the expense of the renal parenchyma.The rate of development of hydronephrosis was almost the same in the right and left kidneys exc eptthe renal size was more in the left kidney with a complete ureteral obstruction than with the partial.Opposite results were found in the right kidney.The rate of development of hydronephrosis was slightly affected by sex as the hydronephrotic kidneys of males with partial ureteral obstructionwere of more size than females.The microscopic changes included caseous necrosis of the renal papilla, cystic dilatation of the renal tubules and finally replacement of the
