Abstract:
1) A total of 100 freshly dead rabbits collected from govern- mental and privately owned nabbitaries at Assiut Province, were subjected to post-mortem and bacteriological examina- tions for possible recovery of Enterobacteriaceae microor- ganisms.2) 33 E.coli isolates, 11 Salmonella isolates, 4 isolates ofeach of Pr. mirabilis and Enterobacter cloacae as well as3 isolates of each of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Citrobacterfreundii were successfully isolated with an incidence of56.89,’ 18.96, 6.89, 6.89, 5.17 and 5.17% respectively. 3) Serological identification of the 33 E.coli isolates re- vealed the recovery of the following serotypes in orderof prevalence”6”strains 078/K80 (B-) ”18.2%”,”4”02f)/K60(B6) ”12.08”,”3”0111/Ks8 (B4) ”9”.09%”,”3”044/K74 (L)”9.09/.:”,”3”°119/[69 (B14) ”9.09%” and”2’;Oss/Ks9 (Bs) ”6.06%” while ”12”strains remained untypable.Serological investigation of the 11 Salmonella isolatesshowed that the serotypes identified in this work were:S.typhimurium ”5” strains (45.3%), S.enteritidis ”3”(27.2%), S.dublin ”2” (18.1%) and S.newport ”1” strain(9.09%).”In the present investigation E.coli serotypes 078/K80(B-),0111/Ks8 (B4), 044/K74 (L), S.enteritidis,S.dublin and Sv newpor t
