Abstract:
As the importance of radiographic diagnostic methods and its avail a-bility-nowadays-in veterinary use, a pattern for the chronologic normalstructure of each species becomes needed. Adequate informations of thispattern for goats are not present. The purpose of the present study is:A. To follow the osseous development of some bones and joints ofthe limbs of clinically normal goats from birth to 3.5 years of age.; Thestudy comprises two groups of goats. Ten kids maintained by the depart-ment of surgery and another 21 kids from the Animal Production Farm. The time of birth of all kids used were known.B. Stat istical analysis of the measurements of long bones such asthe whole length, cortical index from the total diameter of the long bonesas well as the thickness of the cortices. Statistical analysis was performed by the aid of computer in order to obtain age equations from both fore and hind limbs measurements.c. Judgem~t of the obtained equations on 10 goats known theirreal age and another 16 rand~m goats to compare between the estimationof age by dentition and by equations using the measurements from radio-graphs.D. Study of the developmental al terations of the skeletal systemeither congenitally such as angular deformity and toeing out or due tosome environmental effects such as flourosis and secondary copper deffi-ciency.
