Abstract:
Metbylmercury subacute toxicity was st~died in 5 healthy pregnant ”BaladJr goats. The anim.als were adminstered a fixed daily dose of 0.25 mg per kg body weight through gastric intubation. Treatment of animals was started after the third month of ges~atioThe cl~nical signs of poisoning in goats were not manifest before 23 days postadminstration. The main manif-estations were due to the marked involvement of the central nervous system. Affection ofthegastrointestinal trae was also observed in all studied animals. The post mortem findings reflect the marked effect on the aforementioned two systems. The observed cwhich showed in add1tion more or less a generalized form of oedema.The toxic histopathological findings were mainly present in the centr~l nervous system in the form ofneuronal degenerationt sat11latosist and neurophagia in
