Abstract:
The studies on the role of wild in the epizoot- iology of Foot and Mouth Disease revealed the foll- owing summerized results 1- The incubation period of FMD in experimentally infected rats was 24-48 hours.2- FMD lesions in wild rats were in form of vesicles and ulcers localized on the tongue and feet of animalsinfected either experimentally via an IDP route or taken the virus in the food or water. The lesions wereshown between the 2-3 DPI •3- The course of the disease taken about 8 days till all tongue and feet lesions were healed. 4- The higher virus titre in faeces of rats infected by oral route was 10· TCID50 gram while the lower titre was 10°·92 TCID50 / gram but in tissues it wasof 103•5 TCID50/ gm. 5- FMD virus was persisted in faeces of rats experimen-tally infected per os for about 9th DPI.
