Abstract:
Microscopic examination of 531 faecal samples of pigeons of different ages at various localities in IsmailiaGQvernorat in Egypt, revealed that the percentage of cocci- diosis among examined samples reached 52.2 %, and that the incidence of infection decreased in older ages. Squabs under15 days old did not show any oocysts in their faeces. Post- mortem lesions, consisted of enteritis in all parts of the intestinal tract. Oocysts were detected along the intestJneby direct wet smears followed by concentration floatationtech.Identification of tae solated oocysts basuQ on shape, size , sporulation time and prepatent pe~iod ,indicated that were the speciesaffecting pieeons. Experimentally infected of pigeon squabs at 30 daysold with -sporulated oocysts of both ~£Aresulted in general symptoms which appeared on the5!Q· day.. Greenish diarrhea started on the 6!h day post
