The Role of Some Free- Flying & Migratory Birds in The Transmission of Some Virus Diseases to Domestic Fowl in Egypt

Abstract:
Haemagglutination inhibition testing of 435 serum samples of some living trapped migratory and resident free flying birds revealed the natural presence of Newcastle disease haemagglutination inhibition antibodies in Eupopas; Anthus (Pipits); Sylvias CoturFourty thr ee Anthus birds wer e tested, the total positives ofwhich were eleven (more than 25.0%), 7 of which (l6.2%) had a titre over 1/5; representing the second species.The sylvias were 49, eight of which (16. ~%) were positive reactors; three of these(6.0%) had a titre of 1/5.Out of the ninety nine Coturnix tested, fifteen of which IS’. J 70 were positive reactors, ten of which(10%) had a titre over 1/5. The least reactor species was sparrows, where the total positives were 8 (7-.IIf-%’) out of the one hundred and twelve sparrOne single bird (0. s 9 X) showed a titre of 1/10.
