A preliiminary study on the bacteria causing infectious abortion in local sheep

Abstract:
A total of 1017 blood samples,22 aborted foeti (IO,Burki,6,Osemi;4,Rahman!h and 2sMarino) ,14 foetal membranes,217 vaginalcontents,7I milk samples,29 semen samples and 507 gall bladder,was taken from different farms representing different localitiewith previous histories of abortion?infertility or reproductivedisorders and from slaughtered sheep. The’se materials weresubuected to serological examine.tion and bacteriology Lc a.l, iso-lation. In addition .’ some trials Qf artificial infection insusceptible animals or laboratory animals were done.The results of serolo~ical examination o::f the blood sample::for agglutinins against Br.abortus,showe0. thc::.t Generally t.heLnc Lderic e o::f brucellosis was ..? 13%. The h.i.ghe s’t incidence wasi~ Kou~ Oshim farm,v~~ere 13.3% were positive and 7.05% weresuspeccious and . in Maha.let Mous a ::farm 5.6% wele positive and2.18% were suspecious. On the other hand the lowest incidencewas observe~ in the slaughter house materials,Abies,El-Azema.and the flock of Faculty of Agriculture-Cairo University.The comparison between trhe results of the three antigensused in the study (Egyptian,Danish and Weybrige) showed thatthe Danish antigen was more sensitive than the other two.
