Histopathiological and histochemical studies were per- formed on the right and left adrenals of 35 cases showingcystic Follicular d egene catd on and 25 cases suffering from •inactive ovaries. Iviacroscopical and microscopical picture of ovaries in case of inactive and cystic ovaries arebriefly discussed. In cystic ovarian degeneration absence of ovum and hyperatrophied membrana granulosa as well as degeneration of theca were reported. In inactive ovariesabsence of growing follicle and fibrosis were noticed. The histopathiological studies of the adrenal gland revealed that the Zona glomerulosa was increases in widthin cases of cystic ovaries while in case of inactive ones, it was decreased. In cases of inactive ovarie s the number of small cells with pyknotic nuclei and darkly stainedcytoplasm. was increased and distributed diffusely among thecortical cords while in case of follicular cysts, i-G was aggregated a-l.i the trabeculae in the zone. fasiculata.
