Abstract:
The various known facto:cs which c an affect the biological experiments were taken into consideration during the experiments. Sources of errors due to sampling or technique were also avoided. Animals used (Swiss miceand albino rats) were reared taking into consideration all requirements of breeding and livin6 of the laboratory ani- mals. Each am.mal. ;..:;roup used in. this work V’laS composed often males and -cen fer.:l8.1es, 180 clays old, to show the diff- erences due to the animal t s sex. Svriss mice were infected by 150 .§.mansoni cercariae, while the a.Lb Lno rats were infected by 300 cercariae • .oothwere infected by the percutu.neous route. The cercariae were pooled from the largest possible number of infectedsnails in order to balance the sexes. Infection was ascert- ained in Swiss mice by stool examination for ova 50,100 and 150 days after iniec-clon, using the hatching ,technique.V~hile the perfusion t echn.i.que Y/as used to collect the worms in the case where no ova passed In the stools accord- ingly it was alw~s applied in the case of albino rats.Peripheral blood was us~d, and blood sampling was
