Abstract:
Egyptian Leguminous plants are of importance both for soil fertility and nutrition of farm animals •. A number of these plants when examined biologically proved to ~Dssess’sex hormone-like activities and this property may affect the animal reproductivity end productivity. Therefore, it is suggested in this study to investigate the sex hormone-like effects of some leguminous plants grown in Egypt (Trigonella faenum graecum &cycle. Results obtained are summarised belO1N: For alcoholic extract of’ Trigonella feenum graecum green plant(1) Oes~rogen-like effect:It is evidently clear th2t alcoholic extract of Trigonella faenum graecum - by using both vaginal smear test in ovariecto- mised rats and uterine weight one in mice - produces an oestrogen- like effect when injected in doses of 40, 80 and 120 mg/lOO gm.B.Wt. In this respect the dose of 20 mg/lOO g~ B. Wt. - by bothtests - is devoid of this property. Moreover, it is recordedthat each one gram of’ the examined extract of Trigonella faenum
