Comparative study on the effect of chloramphenicol and thiamphenicol on serum enzymes and blood picture

This investigation was performed to compare the effect of chloramphenicol and its analogue thiamphenicol on Serum en- zymes transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, and on liver, bonemarrow and spleen. One hundred mature male albino rats were used. Ten animals served as control and the remaining ninety animals were divided into two groups : The first group ofthirty animals received single dose administration. This was further divided into two sub-groups. Subgroup 1 received WOOmg per Kilogram body weight thiamphenicol intramascularly whereas subgroup 11 received ch loramphenicol.
