The present investigation was carried out to seleetthe most suitable method for preservation of buffaloblood. Blood samples were collected from healthynative buffaloes at Cairo slaughter house. The effects of pyruvate (0.3 mM); pyruvate (15,.0mM);DL- 0{ -tocopherol (100 mg); DL- 0< -tocopherol (200 mg); ascorbic acid (5.67 nill1); adenine (0.5 mM); adenos~ne (1.27 cld); inosine (10.0 mM) and guanosine (2.22 mM)additives to acid citrate dextrose (ACD) and citratephosphate dextrose (CPD) were investigated. Four hoursafter collection of blood the parameters indioatingpersistancy of blood picture were assessed and followedat weekly intervals for 8 weeks.Buffalo blood stored in either ACD and CPD showed decreased pH values, erythrocytic count, packed cellVOlume, total leucocytic count, platelets count, haemo-globin values and plasma sodium.
