Abstract:
The present study was carried out to investigate on the role played by equine ticks in the transmissionof blood parasites to equines. It included an introduc- tion followed by a detailed review of literature; thematerial and me t ho d s and techniques as well as the results and ended with a discussion of the detailed parts of the results. The survey of ticks infesting equines was carried out in various Governerates in Upper and Lower Egyptduring a period of one year from September 1978 till October 1979.Examination of 1006 aninals (donkeys, horses and mules) revealed t.ha t , 95 an.iraa’l s were infested by ticks(9.44 %) of which the rates of infestation among donkeys,horses and nules were, 11.73; 0.63 & 4.3 % respectively.
