Pharmacological Studies On Some Aspects Of Hormonal Control Of Fertility And Reproduction In Buffaloes

The present research investigation is mainly con- cerned with s t ud ro s of three chemically diverse syntheticcompounds wi.t h well -defined pa t t o rns of pharmacologicalactivity namely medroxy-progesterone acetate rrLPA. chlo- ?arniphene (clomiphene) dihydrogen c i t z-at c and vitamin A, :or their effects en the periodicity of the reproductivecycle as well 8S on th,; circulating gonadotrophin levels end the urinary metabolite excretion values of certain sex steroidal hormones reflecting the state of ovarian and tdrenocortical functions in adult normal non-pregnant~emale buffaloes.The experimental observations were recorded on a iotal of 24 water buffaloes of uniform breed w i t h compa- rable age groups (4--5 years 010.’) and boC.y weight s (500-lOOkg. range) and a H having regular reproduct i ve cycles.:hese animals were randomly categorized into 4 equal sized sroups three of which were roserved for specified courses :f parenteral medication in the test drugs while the 4thserved as parallel vehicle (saline) treated control.
