Abstract:
In the present investigation attention was directed to evaluate : (1) the influences of castration and thyr-oidectomy upon pituitary and serwn LH and FSH; (2) the effects of administration of testosterone upon synthesis and release of LH and FSH was determined and (3) the rateof clearance of exogenous HOG and P.MS from circulation in the exper-Imen t a.l, groups was also studied.FSH and LH were assessed by using an iwmunoassay method depending on a haemoagglutination inhibitionteclmique. Biological assay methods were also used for confirmation and comparing between the two assay techniques. It was evidently clear that, the values of gonado- trophins obtained by haemagglutination inhibition assaywere almost and to 8,graat extend similar to those obtained by biolOGical assay. The results obtained from the present study revealed that 1)Cas t ra t Lon was followed by a signif icant increase in both pituitary and serum LH and FSH.2)Thyroidectomy was followed by a significant increase in pituitary LH and FSH.
