Eighty salmonalla strains ,represented in seven serotypes including S. typhimurium var copenhagen,S. typhimurium,S. tulear, S. zega, S. chester, S. thompson and S. kisangani were isolated from 900 ailing and dead pigeons suspected to suffer from paratyphoThje isolation of S. tulear,S. zega,S. chester and S. kisangani from pigeons, regarding the available literature, seems to be the frist record. The isolation of S. typhimurium var copenhagen, S.tulear, S.zega and S.kisangani seems to be the frist record of these microorganisms in Egypt.Selenite F broth proved to be superior to tetrathionate broth in isolation of salmonellae from pigeons.MaC conksy was found to be superior to S.S agar for salmonella isolation.43 was the optimum temperature for incubation of selenite F broth, while 37 was the optimum temperature in case of tetrathionate.
