Abstract:
The present investibation includes some studies on serum enzymes of camel foeti (Camelus deomedarius L.)as well as those of pre6nant she-camels at different stages of foetal development. Camels foeti were classified according to theirvertebral rump length (V.h.L.) into five groups. Samples of foetal blood were collected from foeti of clinicallyhealthy mothers.’ Maternal samples were obtained from prebnant she-carnels.• Some blood samples collected frompregnant she~camels•were grouped together with their res-pective foeti. The present investigation revealed thefo1lowinb findings:1) The mean values of serum total alkaline phospha- tase in camels foeti were increased in the first threestages of development, reaching its maximal level (61.1.o;t 1.b2bA.i- ...• uu i t.s per 100 m I ) in the third group. It wasthen decreased towards maturity in the fourtn and fifth stages. The mean values of the total serum alkaline phosphatase in normal pregnant she-charnels were not si5nificantl~changed duri~ pregnancy. The serum total alkaline phOS- phatase was significantly higher in camels foeti than their
