Abstract:
Sixty random samples, thirty cans each of milk powder and sweetened condensed milk, of various brands available on the market, collected from differentlocalities in Cairo and its Suburbs,were examined in this work to determine their microbiological qualityThe microbiological study revealed that. the total colony count in examined samples of milk powderranged from 280 to 36 x 106, with a mean value of 27.05 x 105 ± 14.02 x 105/ gm, while it ranged from220 to 122 x 103, with a mean value of 10.24 x 103 + 4.88 x 103/ gm of the condensed product.Yeasts could be detected in 56.61 % and )0 % ofexamined samples of milk powder and condensed milk res-pectively. The total yeast count ranged from 10 to 200 With a mean value of 69.41 ± 13.86/ gm, and from 10 to20, with a mean value of 12.22 ± 1.39 /gm respectively. Mo1ds were present in 76.67 % of examined samplesof milk powder , and in 60 % of samples of condensed milk. The total mold count ranged from 10 to 70 with a mean
