Abstract:
Among the causes of infertility in the buffalo, hormonal disturbance is considered the most important.This probably leads to po at par-tum cnce s+rus wh.i.ala may be extended to a year or more in a great number ofbuffaloes.In the present investigetion attention was direc- ted to assay the levels of gonadotrophic hormones(FSH, LH and LTH), thyrotrophic hormone (TSR), thyroid hormones (T4 and T3) and ovarian hormones (oestrogens and progesterone) in the serum of buffaloeswith’ short and prolonged postpartum periods. Comparison of the levels of these hormones vdth nonnal anllilalsduring different phases of the oestrous cycle was attempted.Gonadotrophic ho rmcne s stex:« determined by the biological assay methods.
