Studies on the antigenicity of clostridium welchii

- Out of 368 intestina.l samples collected from dead sheep and identified morphologically, cultural and biochemically, 198 cases proved to contain l. welchii (53.80%). Meunwhile, out of 188 intestinal apoc Imenn collected 198 strains collected from dead s.Cl. welchii (59.60%). On the other hand, the percontage ofpathogenic C1.welchii reached 64.1 among all isolates recovered ’-:from the intostinoJ. tract of dead ca1ves- A total of 161 toxigenic strains were identified. Out of theses,131 strains of type A (81.37%),4 belonged to type D.(2 .48%) Immune sera were prepared. by inoculution of rabbits ’with .35 strains of typ A and all the isolated strains of Cl. welchii types B, C, or D. All rabbits produced antibedies.
