Abstract:
1) from 300 chickens,aging,. from’. 3—10 weeks’old, sus-pected to be ’ suffering from Gumboro.disease,three virus strains were isolated and characterize physico-chemically, biologically as well as serologically.2) pathogenicity of the isolated Gumboro disease virus to embryonated chicken eggs resulted in variable embryonic death and embryonic lesions as congestion and oedema of the embryos and necrotic foci on liver.3) pathogenicity of the isolated Gumboro disease virus to one day old chicks resulted in neither symptoms nor mortality, bursal lesions were detected in sacrificied birds as well as serological detection of infection.4) pathogenicity of the isolated Gumboro disease virus to 3 weeks old mice resulted inneither symptoms nor mortality.5) 1000 random serum sample from 20 broiler, and 5 breeder chicken flocks were serologically examined for Gumboro disease antibodies by agar gel precipitation test.
