Abstract:
Exposure of 140 mature male and female mice to whole BqRY X-irradiation of 4 groups of mice in the form ofsingle dose of 100. 200, 400, 1000 rad for each group. The exposures were applied by using a mximur Kilo voltage machine 200 K.V., 10 MA~ 1 m. CUt H.V.T. and 50cm. F.S.D. The d.se rate was ?’~,rad/minute. All animalswere put under observation for 4 weeks after irradiation.Blood was collected from every mouse just before the timeof Sacrification for estimation of S.G.P.T., S.G.O.T. and S.A.K. enzymes)The vascula~ changes turned out to be the first re- action observed after irradiation, these vascular changeswere congestion, haemorrhages, perivascular ~edema, swe-lling of the endothelial lining of blood vessels, conglu-tination of R.B.C;, thrombus formation, leucocytic aggr- egation and extramedullary hematopoiesis. The vascular changes were attributed to the direct effect of irradiation. There appeared to be relationship between increasin.
