Morphopathological studies on expermental viral pneumonia in lambs

Abstract:
An experiment was conducted on twenty one of 10 -11 weeks old lambs Rahmany breed, inoculated intranasa-11y and intTatracheally with a constant amount of the locally isolated PI-3 virus (1413) strain. The animalswere sacrified every 2 days after the first 72 hours fora period of 13 days and the following tissues were co11-cted: septum nasi, trachea, lung, various respiratory lYE1:9h nodes, liver, nasal, lacrimal, tracheal, and pha-ryngeal swabs. Tissue aampLe e of septum na s i , tracheaas well as blood samples were taken. Were also obtained.The ill2in tests used in this study were: Virus re-isola- tion, };A reaction, haematological and pathological stu-dies were done. Infected lrunbs developed a mucoid tomucopurulent nasal discharge 3 days after inoculation.Later on they showed an increasing intensity of clinical illness characterised by pyrexia, coughingn dy s pne a , a sneezing, extended neck and abdominal respiration (Respiratory distress).Macroscopically, pneumonia was reported mainly the apical lobes. The most prominent lesions were observedin animals sacrified on the 9th day post infection. Other
