Clinco-pathological studies on mastitis in cattle and buffaloes

Abstract:
In the first part of this study, quarter ~ilk samples’ of 46 apparently normal, lactating buf’f’a Lc e a and 20 lactating Friesian cows were investigated.. Ba0tor:;.ologiC’:l.1 examtnatrl.on of the milk samplef3 revealed that 80043% of buf’f’e Lce s and 8mastitis. The most- pred0minant genus in buffaloes was strep-tococcus while in cows the predominant genu s was staphyloco-ccus. One isolate of Candida albicans was recovered from onecow. Isolates of beta hemolytic streptococ~i recovered frombuffaloe and COW milk samples were grouped serologically.Milk samples collected from buffaloes and cows were analysed for total somatic cells, per~entnge of polymorpho-nuclear cells, activity of alkaline phosphate.se,.8.cld phOS-phatase and lactoperoxidase.
