Abstract:
1 - The general survey on the predomenant ectoparasitesinfesting different types of birds and their possible role in transmitting some bacterial diseases underlocal environmental conditions has been investigated. 2 - .A. total of 22648 birds (19968 chicks, 557 turkeys,682ducks, 566 geese and S75 pigeons) were examined period’:’ ically (July 1973 to June 1974) from 10 different farmsbelonging to 8 districts at Sharkia Governorate. 3 - The incidence percentages of ticks~ Argus persicus,infesting chicks~ turkey, ducks, geese,and pigeons at peasant farms were 14.29 %,5.38 %,1.02 %, 1.76 %,and2.51-% respectivelyo While at the governmental farms showed no incidence percentages. 4 - The incidence percentage of lice, Menopon gallinae$infesting the examined 11790 chicks in the peasant farms, was 1.86 %, while the red mite; Dermanyssus gallinae, was 018 % Pigeons were
